First licensed as far back as 1989, Duoject began to actively license the VARI-VIAL™ to Adria Labs for Syringe Pump Infusion of their oncology drugs in North American and Europe, including the chemotherapy agent doxorubicin (Adriamycin). The patented features of Duoject’s VARI-VIAL™ system licensed to Astra Zeneca in 1991 continues to prevent sales erosion of DIPRIVAN PFS many years after generic competition had been introduced to the market.

Today, VARI-VIAL™ remains an effective “prefillable syringe” system suitable for niche products requiring low capital investment and cost and time efficient market entry. It can be used for either Subcutaneous, Intramuscular or Syringe Pump based Intravenous applications.
