Duoject's INTER-VIAL™ PLUS differs from the Inter-vial as the lyophilized drug is contained in an ISO standard cartridge and the liquid diluent in a standard drug vial. INTER-VIAL™ is patented worldwide and has been recognized by the FDA under a 510K pre-market approval.

The diluent vial is first inserted into the vial socket and the system activated, this allows the liquid from the vial to be transferred into the drug cartridge which is then and reconstituted. The vial socket is then detached exposing a standard Luer Lock to which a needle is added prior to administration via injection.

Since the drug admixture is not transferred between the containers, transfer losses are minimal. The drug reconstitution is performed in its original container (a cartridge) and delivered directly to the patient.
